 Hydration

FUNCTION OF WATER

Our bodies are made up of 60-70% water and as a result, it is one of the most important nutrients we require. It also serves many other essential functions in the body:

DAILY WATER REQUIREMENT

Our daily water need can be assessed on the estimated output and input of fluid into the body

Estimated Water Output

Fluid Balance

With a well-balanced diet it is anticipated that we can obtain around 1-1.5 litres through the diet. Additional water consumption needs to be at least an extra 1-2 litres per day, and this can increase with levels of physical activity. Typically for every hour of physical activity an additional litre will need to be consumed.

Over Consumption Of Water

Large volumes of water within the stomach can lead to the individual feeling bloated and nauseous, so it is recommended to take water on little and often
